Thomas Lengauer Recognized as ACM Fellow

Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Lengauer, BioSolveIT co-founder and member of our Board of Directors, has been recognized as an “ACM Fellow 2021” for his groundbreaking contributions to bioinformatics and medical informatics. The prestigious award is given to the top 1% percent of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Members for their “outstanding accomplishments in computing and information technology and/or outstanding service to ACM and the larger computing community”.

Thomas has served as the Director of the Department on Computational Biology and Applied Algorithmics at the Max-Planck-Institute for Informatics for 17 years. His research interest focuses on methods for analysis of viral resistance of HIV and computational epigenetics. Between 2018 and 2020 he was the President of the International Society for Computational Biology. Since 2019 he is a part-time affiliate of Institute of Virology at Cologne University.
