website relaunch introduces new contents and functionality
As a consequence of our continuing ambition to expand the potential of our software, the spectrum of BioSolveIT's tools, modules and their functionality is constantly growing. In order to keep pace with this development, our internet appearance – especially the software section – was in need of a complete revision and an improved structure. For this reason, our major tools have been rearranged on the new site according to their general 'domain': docking (FlexX, DDB), alignment (FlexS), similarity (FTrees, HTSview), threading (ToPLign), networks (ToPNet), and some general utilities (FlexV, Distributor). All available modules are presented separately and are partly supplied with some additional information.
In order to reflect the more detailed structure within the navigation panel, it was necessary to employ some comfortable dynamic technique that shows only context-relevant items at any time. We decided in favor of fly-out menus, with which most users are familiar from their operating system desktops and other GUIs. A smart mixture of server-side pre-processing using the popular scripting language PHP and client-side mouseOver-dynamics managed by JavaScript* provides our visitor with the optimal synergy between ease of operation, intuitive handling and performance.
As some links offer functionality (e.g. printing) rather than information, they have been separated from the navigation menu and relocated to a new horizontal toolbar on top of each page for instant access. Also, some services have been established or upgraded in order to simplify communication with BioSolveIT. The support and the license request form, for example, offer the most comfortable and structured way to contact us in terms of requests, questions, issues or suggestions and any information you are willing to share with us.
Finally, for our protection against unauthorized access, we had to limit certain downloads to registered users. In order to make this process as comfortable as possible, we strongly encourage you to register at once and enable cookies in your web browser. Once this is done, you will always be recognized as a registered user and are free to move around our website and use all our services. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but unfortunately we are forced to be this little more stringent here. In any case, we guarantee that we will not use your registration data for any other purpose than our protection (for more detailed information read the section 'data privacy protection' in our legal notice).
