Original FlexX paper has grown to have over more than 600 citations within a wide range of contexts
The original paper describing the automated version of the FlexX method has recently exceeded the 600 citations barrier. The distinguished paper describing FlexX was published by Mathias Rarey, Bernd Kramer, Thomas Lengauer, and Gerhard Klebe in 1996 in the Journal of Molecular Biology:
Rarey M., Kramer B., Lengauer T., and Klebe G.
A fast flexible docking method using an incremental construction algorithm
J Mol Biol. 1996 Aug 23;261(3):470-89
The paper describes the methodology of FlexX, the original algorithms and the theoretical model used to dock ligands in an automated fashion. This accumulation of citations shows the pedigree and excellence of the method which has formed a firm foundation for the development of the successfully applied docking engine supplied by BioSolveIT.
FlexX is referenced in a wide range of papers from basic descriptions of docking to more detailed reviews of docking methodologies, applications of the FlexX method for successful docking and virtual screening, and comparative studies of docking methods. A range of the references that cite the FlexX method are available for viewing.
